Iron Doors: Not Just for Your Entryway!

There was a time when iron doors were a drab, dreary set of bars meant to cover your front door and deter burglars from trying to break in. But eventually, people realized that ornamental iron doors could be used as a main design tool or to compliment other existing elements! And better yet, these doors don’t necessarily have to be relegated to your entryway either; in fact, there are all sorts of places they could go. Here are some ideas to inspire you and help you decide where your new iron door might work best in your home.

Ornamental Iron Doors in the Entryway

This is the first place that ornamental iron doors are normally placed in a home—after all, the front door is arguably the most seen and most used door of any home, and an iron door can add a supreme sense of elegance to any entryway. Don’t forget to compliment the door with your porch, walkway, and landscaping detail. You might also consider a decorative overhang that can be added to smaller entrance doors; it can really sell the theme you have in mind.

Garage Doors

Believe it or not, ornamental iron garage doors can be installed in your garage! For those of you who are car or bike enthusiasts, these heavy-duty doors can add a nice amount of security to your collection. However, their main purpose in your home’s design is to tie together the overall design aspects of the property well beyond the front door. They can add an unparalleled and tasteful sense of flow to your home that heavily accentuates the interior design.

Stairways

While the stairway railing isn’t technically an iron door, it can still be produced with the same design as your front entrance and effectively tie your interior design together! It’ll seem as though your home just naturally flows from the door all the way to the upper floors and beyond; it’s an understatement of design that immediately makes a profound impact in your home’s overall elegance.

Even though we generally picture iron doors in our entryway, there are many other places they can be installed in our homes that aren’t just practical, but also complimentary to your design scheme.
